Activities to improve IELTS speaking skills.



IELTS tricks.

ACTIVITY - 1

💁This activity can be done by 2 - 5 students or you can use an online platform like omegle.com

Cambly or another online platform, where 👥two people interacted with each other.

Name, Family background, in brief, City of residence, Academic qualification, Job, Hobbies, and goals in life.

Other students listen to the speech and prepare 2 - 4 questions about each of the parts included in the speech. They may take help from the questions printed in the book. Once the candidates complete the speech, those who were listening to the speech will ask the questions that they had prepared.

Benefits of the activity

Students improve their familiarity with the language and also develop skills to answer questions immediately. They also improve their confidence by doing so. This activity is extremely useful for students who have just started preparing for IELTS.

ACTIVITY - 2

💁This activity can be done by 2 - 3 students.

Step 1 Select a cue card from my next blog.

Step 2 One of the student will start speaking on the cue cards. While speaking, if the speaker takes a pause longer than 5 seconds, the second student will stop the first speaker and start speaking on the same cue card. Now, when the second student takes a pause longer than 5 seconds, the first speaker will stop the second student and again start speaking on the same cue card.

At the end of the activity, the one who has spoken maximum will be declared a winner🏆.

ACTIVITY - 3

💁This activity can be done between 2 students.

Step 1 Select any cue card from my next blog.

Step 2 You will start speaking on the cue card. During the speech, if you repeat the words or a phrase immediately or after some sentences, the second student will stop the first student and you will start speaking on the same cue card. 

Benefits of the activity.

Some students have a natural tendency of repeating words or phrases. Some of them do self-repetition. This tendency can reduce the scores of candidates. the second benefit is that students will try to do some variety in the vocabulary that they use in their speech. this variety will also help in improving their scores on the speaking test.

ACTIVITY - 4

💁Can be done by two or more students

Step 1: One student will see; etc a cue card from the topic and will start speaking on it. The student should be allowed to speak till he/she can. However, if the student is unable to create a proper sentence at any point, the other student will start speaking on the same topic and from the same point.

Benefits of the activity.

This activity is aimed to improve the conversation repair skill of the student. when one student hears the other student speaking on the same cue card and from the point where he couldn't speak, he learns to repair the conversation and doesn't let it be broken by the deficiency of the language.
